June’s PlayStation Plus Lineup

Here are the PlayStation Plus freebies for the month

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4)

A visually stunning chapter in a long-running, deeply complex series. This nail-biting mission onto a Cuban military base follows Snake as he attempts to rescue Paz from enemy imprisonment.

Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition (PS4)

This turn-based strategy game turned a lot of undead heads with its story of a Samurai Afterlife. Build an army of the undead, battle your opponents, and regain your honor.

Super Exploding Zoo (PS Vita | PS4)

Players must defend all the precious animal eggs in the zoo from evil aliens who want to eat said eggs. How do you defend these tasty treats? With a herd of explosive animals, obviously.

Futuridium EP Deluxe (PS Vita | PS4)
Free for PS Plus Members

A psychedelic, retro-inspired shooter with crazy action, puzzle elements, and a bumping electronic soundtrack. May or may not induce random dance parties.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)
Free for PS Plus Members

This first-person shooter celebrates the wild west in a big, bloody way. Take down anyone unlucky enough to cross bounty hunter Silas Greaves.

Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3)
Free for PS Plus Members

This is a fantastic game which Dave reviewed (video and text review) during his time at Stevivor.com. Come read it here if interested but, more importantly, go download this platformer gem!

The dev team behind this insane 2D platformer spent 2 years building an AI that could build a near-infinite number of levels for any difficulty. It looks totally bananacakes. Good luck with that!

There are two things I love in life... playing games and my family. I work three jobs; one to pay the bills, another as a video game designer at C117 Games, and, of course, here - at Another Dungeon. I own almost every console since the Atari 7800 and am proud of my extensive collection of games. I'm more of a single or coop player but I do dabble in multiplayer on the odd occasion. Tabletop wise I prefer strategic games like Five Tribes or Small World. If you want to have a game or just chat feel free to add me, PM me or email me.
  • Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (PS4)
The somewhat much derided prequel to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V. This short game sees the player taking control of Snake as he takes on a military compound.

Given the fact that the less than stellar reviews for the game complained mostly about the asking price, I wonder whether the ‘free’ aspect will allow players to come at this game with a more open mind. It’s questionable whether this is a worthy AAA title to celebrate the anniversary of Playstation Plus or not is up for debate.

Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition (PS4)

The trailer for Skulls of the Shogun shows children being drawn into a TV in some kind of Samurai Poltergeist move. The kids faces then end up superimposed on some samurai who eat their victims skulls. I’m not entirely sure that this trailer is representative of the game at hand, but it does certainly give an idea that this could be some crazy fun.

On the technical side, Skulls of the Shogun which has previously been available on XBox 360, Steam and Ouya, is a turn-based strategy game where you play as General Akamoto who battles through swarms on undead enemies to build an army to defeat someone who stabbed him in the back. The animation looks great and this could be an enjoyable single or mutliplayer game. The developers have called this a love letter to Advanced Wars and say it boasts around ten hours worth of play.

    Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)
I’ve always wondered with the title ‘Call of Juarez’ what his call actually is? Does he run into battle with a war cry? Or does he just have a really funky ring tone? I’m not sure, but I hope that when I do get around to playing the critically adored Call of Juarez: Gunslinger that I’ll find out.

This short downloadable title was a surprise hit when it landed in 2013 when it threw the player into the roll of a ruthless bounty hunter tracking down some of the Old West’s most notorious outlaws.
    Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3)

This somewhat insane platformer has a round headed fellow named Bob navigate through some exceptionally tough precision plaforming. Having played through some of this on PC, I’m quite keen to give Cloudberry Kingdom another shot. Visually it’s a little slight, but gameplay wise it’s not terrible.

Super Exploding Zoo (PS4 & PS Vita)
Brought to you by the minds behind last months PS Plus title Hohokum, Super Exploding Zoo has the player direct hordes of exploding animals to defeat some aliens. I’m not sure if this is a game that’s on PETA’s radar or not, but none the less, this cross play, multiplayer game lets you live out your wildest exploding animal dreams. Expect a review of this one soon!
Futuridium EP Deluxe (PS4 & PS Vita)

Hipsters have not taken over your PS4 and PS Vita with a game you’ve never heard of, instead developer MixedBag have delivered a space based shoot em up that looks exceptionally fast paced and relient of some very quick reactions.
