Those of us that have been fans of the idea of Virtual Reality gaming have long been excited about the Oculus Rift, and it appears that soon we will have the opportunity to experience it in our own homes thanks to yesterdays announcement that the Oculus Rift will soon be available for anyone to purchase.
According the Oculus Rift blog the units on offer will be available for pre-order at 8am Pacific Time, January 6 (3am AEST January 7th). However so far the shipping date and more importantly the price is yet to be revealed. Also given the speculation that the system will apparently ship with an Xbox One controller, PlayStation owners might be missing out at this stage.
Every Oculus Rift sold during the pre-order offer will ship with two games. Lucky’s Tale by Playful, a bespoke platformer made just for the Rift and CCP’s EVE: Valkyrie, a stunning looking virtual reality multiplayer space combat game set in the EVE Universe.
Adding to what is already sure to be a busy week for Oculus, this Wednesday, January 6 at 6pm Pacific time, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will be answering any questions during a Reddit AMA, which is sure to have quite a few interesting questions about both the Rift and the pre-order offer.
