Good news for fans of good old couch co op! Screencheat is launching on Xbox One and Playstation 4 on the 1st of March!
Originally launched in October 2014 on PC, Screencheat is the ridiculous splitscreen shooter where everyone is invisible so you have to “screencheat” (Screencheat verb: to look at your opponent’s screens. “Stop screencheating you cheater!”). Supporting local and online play for 2 8 players, Screencheat’s offthewall arsenal of one-hit kill weapons include a hobby horse, a car engine that shoots bouncing plasma balls and a teddy bear loaded with explosives.
I had a chance to play Screencheat at PAX in 2014 and it was a blast. It’s such an intense experience, with players trying to balance watching their own screen so they can see where they’re going, and watching everyone else’s screens to actually be able to score a kill. With most maps divided into colour sections so you can tell who’s where, and weapons leaving some form of smoke trail (some after you fire, some while you’re holding them), Screencheat has been brilliantly designed from the ground up to be the ultimate local mp experience.
