Welcome to Another Dungeon

Hello and welcome to the official launch of Another Dungeon!

Born out of a podcast, which grew from a forum, that grew from a desire for a like-minded community, Another Dungeon is the brainchild of a few passionate individuals from the Australian video gaming community. Initially just a place for us to write about our passion, it’s grown to a site with a more communal focus, also offering readers the chance to participate.

As such, Another Dungeon is a place to find your video game, card game and table top/board game reviews. Embracing the perspective that a review is entirely subjective, we’ve included the ability for counter reviews where alternate staff members may write an additional site review when they feel passionately (or dispassionately) about a particular title. We also provide joint reviews, where two staff members discuss a game, and re-reviews… for when a reviewer changes their mind or a game significantly changes (e.g. an online-focused game whose community dissipates).

If reading isn’t your thing we also offer visual and audible content. No, we didn’t get Morgan Freeman to read our reviews for you; we’re talking about video footage, podcasts, and streaming. At least twice a week, Dave and Tim will stream video game content ranging from old classics such as Galaga to current AAA titles. These will be archived on YouTube and linked to the corresponding game hub so fear not, you won’t miss anything if you can’t make the live stream… except for that sweet interaction, of course. We’re also retiring the old DAFAP Podcast and starting the Another Dungeon Podcast. With two episodes a month, it will be structured and informative… unlike its predecessor.

Most importantly, though, we want Another Dungeon to be a communal site; to give you the reader the chance to have your say. Of course, the forums have carried over and we have comment functionality on our articles, but we’ve also provided the chance to review and/or rate games yourself. Scores will aggregate, and hopefully paint a clearer picture over time, in terms of a more objective view of a certain title. Interaction isn’t just restricted to the written form, however, and visitors are encouraged to participate in our live streams or even join us as a special guest on the Podcast.

One thing you won’t find on Another Dungeon is daily video game news and updates – but don’t fret, we will have regular content in the form of Opinions and other long-form articles. Our goal is to provide rich content that’s not only thought-provoking, but also informative. Let us know what you like and don’t like – or even better, let us know if there’s something specific you want us to cover!

So again, welcome, and thank you for joining our burgeoning community.

Details of our staff writers and editors can be found at the about us page and a guide detailing what we perceive our scores to mean can be found here.

There are two things I love in life... playing games and my family. I work three jobs; one to pay the bills, another as a video game designer at C117 Games, and, of course, here - at Another Dungeon. I own almost every console since the Atari 7800 and am proud of my extensive collection of games. I'm more of a single or coop player but I do dabble in multiplayer on the odd occasion. Tabletop wise I prefer strategic games like Five Tribes or Small World. If you want to have a game or just chat feel free to add me, PM me or email me.
  • I’m looking forward to the new podcast. Any idea when you’re planning to start?

We’re recording the final DAFAP tomorrow night and will record the first Another Dungeon (1AD) podcast mid Jan. 😀
